ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Natasia Gascon has resided in the Palms Neighborhood of Los Angeles for over a decade. Her extensive experience in arts administration has included positions with 18th Street Art Center, the Ford Theaters, The Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, Torrance Art Museum, Manhattan Beach Art Center, El Segundo TV, Palos Verdes Art Center, Highways Performance Space and Gallery, Sunday Jump Community Open Mic Series, and the Marciano Art Foundation.

She is a graduate of the Getty Multicultural Undergraduate Internship program, the Los Angeles County Arts Commission Internship Program, the Emerging Arts Leaders of Los Angeles – Arts Professional Advisor Link Program, and the Arts for LA’s ACTIVATE Arts Advocacy Leadership Program.

 

With the guidance of the ACTIVATE program, Gascon has created this comprehensive map that identifies, catalogs and geographically locates Palms’ art assets. The map was designed to emphasize the cultural significance of these assets, increase civic pride in the community, and identify the distinct character of Palms.

ART OF PALMS aims to create connections among artists, cultural organizations, community groups, businesses, visitors and residents in order to sustain and promote a thriving, diverse and creative neighborhood.
